What Part of You?

This is the time of the year when resolutions are made and goals are set. What if that is the wrong approach?   What if the first step is to know who you are at your core and the life you desire?  In other words, goals for what purpose and to what end.

We are so busy doing, thinking, working, worrying, creating, and living life that often we slowly drift away from who we are at our core.

The energy of every experience and every person we encounter gently, or not so gently, pushes on our space (our energy), changing it and us in subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) ways. These shifts move us away from our original essence. We adapt to these changes and move on, not realizing that we have moved away from who we are.

These unexpected and unwanted shifts can be undone so we can return to who we are. Going within, reconnecting to who we are at our core, is a way of resetting our energy and our space and being more of who we are.

It starts with meditation, quieting the body, and clearing your thinking. Then find your core, that space within, by going to your heart.  Courage comes from the Latin word cor, which means heart. The original use of the word courage means to stand by one’s core. Living from our center or our core gives us the courage to feel, see, accept, and heal, and to be.  In meditation from within, remember who you are at your core and how you want to bring that into your work, your life, and the world.

Working hard is just working hard.  When we bring who we are at our core into what we do, that is a different experience. While we are at it, answer these questions from within, “What do I bring into my world?” “What is my uniqueness that I want to experience in my life and my work?” “What aspect of myself do I want to experience next?”

The answers to these questions are behind the vision we create for ourselves and the goals that we set. In this way, we bring who we are at our core into the world to experience ourselves. With this awareness, we feel inspired, happy, fulfilled, and enthusiastic, and other energy levels that heal and make us joyful.

Who knows how far off track you may have been gone, being pushed by experiences and the energy of others. So stop where you are now. Come out of the energy of where you have been; give yourself time to meditate on who you are at your core and how you want to be in the world.

Best wishes for the New Year, Kay
